October 26, 2008 Addi with Bryce

Chris and Tyson got back today with this buck. Tyson, Teri(Tysons's wife) and Chris were out caping it out and we had Tony, Brandi and Addi here for dinner before they returned home. The kids came for dinner. It's been a busy weekend for them. They came for Bryce's Senior night friday and we had all of about 4 hours alone with them. They are pretty good sports with everyone wanting a piece of their time.

Addi is a doll and has such a cute happy personality. She watched as the guys cut the deer up and would got ewwwww! Brandi and Kati had taken her to the zoo and their she had seen LIVE deer and then next day dead ones. Therapy in the Shaffer household...grin. It's ok Addi... Try being the only girl here...She kept calling the deer a cow and GUESS what Addi is going to be for Halloween..A COW!! FUN!

Bryce's Senior Night

Last Night was Bryce's Senior night. He got a MV fleece blanket with his numbers on and a really cute cake with a Abominable snow man on it. The Mom's got a rose. (Thanks soooo much Bryce)Max was asked to escort Dave Treasure(Max's football coach 30 years ago) out on the feild which was a neat thing for him. Max was also asked to announce the game which he did quite well. He had quite a few people come and tell him how well he did. Personally!! I thought he did an awesome job using the kids names and crediting them for their efforts. He was pretty nervous to begin with but I would bet he gets asked to do it again. He LOVES football and it was a nice way for him to be involved.
Tony,Brandi, and Addi came from Moscow to watch the game and Kati came to support him too.
Marsh Valley Won 10-0 against American Falls. It put the team into a 3 way tie for Champion of the District. Bear Lake is out and they did a coin toss to determine who the Champ was. Pretty weird to me that you can work really hard and have a coin toss determine championship, but Not my choice for being fair. We now have to play Shelley on Thursday
Bryce came home to a decorated room. His friend Corinne had asked him to Morp and came over to decorate after he left for his team dinner. Corinne called when Bryce was still here and we were dancing around trying not to let him hear the conversation. We tried to hint that he might need to clean his room a bit....Brandi made Bryce a My favorite Uncle poster for his football game and Max laid it in front of Bryces bedroom door. I waited for Bryce to come home thinking he would head to the basement to sleep ( So he could be where his games are ,of course)and said, "Hey ya better check your room." He was pretty cute about it. He went up and it really didn't indicate who had asked him. The poster being their threw him. He came down with The cookies and told me he really didn't know who it was and was it Corinne? She placed hearts EVERYWHERE!!! and did the heart attack approach. It's fun to be able to be here for that fun stuff. It's pretty strange to almost be through with Sports in the Family zone. Bryce has been such a good kid with wonderful friends. We have been lucky to have the his friends want to come over. Bryce is a math whiz and tutors a few of his friends. He has been very willing to help all of them.I have always said that Bryce is without guile, an amazing trait to have. Thanks for being such an obedient, kind, guileless son Bryce. YOUR MY HERO! It's been fun to watch you grow.
Tony, Brandi and Addi came for dinner on sunday while Chris brought his Buck in with Tyson.

New Daughter.

Shane and Katie are getting married today and we are very happy to welcome her into our family. Katie has always been one of my favorite people in my kid's life. It will be very nice next summer to have them home and be able to do things together with them.

MV fell to the Panthers last night in a low scoring afair. SR won 6--0. There were a few turnovers and some penalties that hurt us. Bryce played vey good and played the whole game. Next week we have AF at home for Senior night and Tony and Brandi are coming home so we are really looking forward to that. We'll know after next week what the playoff picture looks like.

Appropriate for Hunting Season..Ya Think?

Yesterday was a very busy day. Some times it seems like there isn't enough of me to go around but as you all know there's enough of me to make it a long way around me. Bryce did have a good game last night and the team in whole played a good game. Bryce's buddy Colter was sick last night and wasn''t able to play. We all wish him the best and will be remembering him in our prayers. With Colter not available Bryce got a lot more action in the game. MV pretty much dominated from the beginning. We had a touchdown called back on a penalty and a 10 to 1 ratio on penaltys for the game. Arnie Jones was the head referee so it was expected. It is fun watching Bryce play fotball but it makes me feel old to know that all my boys have grown and this stage of my life is coing to a close. I hope all my boys know what a joy it has brought to my life to be able to hear their names mentioned around the MV football field.

Busy Day

This was one of those days where every minute was taken. Max had to work last night from 11-7am and I snuck past Max asleep on the couch so I didn't wake him. I had a few clients this morning and then we drove to Blackfoot to get a stove insert some guy had to put in the old house Max had found to help out the heat situation for our renter. It cost the renter $750 to fill the propane tank over there.
It seems like there is a frenzy around here to get Food storage. I feel pretty useless not getting more done this year. We did some jam, and some Elderberry and chokesherry syrup off the trees in our own yard. I guess at least we will have WAFFLES!! A couple of our friends have food storage like you Simply can not believe. I am going to try to putt along and get a little more ahead. We have worked so hard on this house, we have let that stuff go. Walton Feed.com has some food storage stuff that most of these gals go over and get and I looked on line today and some orders are 5 weeks out. Interesting huh? I think we can rest assured we are guided by a Prophet. We have been warned and especially prompted lately to stay out of debt and get food storage. I remember being told in my old ward that Heavenly Father always warns his people and prepares a way for them to be less harmed in crisis if only they will prepare. I am sooo thankful for a very hardworking husband and boys who have made this home we have. Max and Bryce have stored us up a bunch of wood. I am glad we have that wood stove if the power goes out. Our power bills have been very minimal with the way this is insulated and how Max has started using our wood stove.
This year I made a goal for myself that we were going to eat more healthy so I have been making our own bread with whole wheat.I think I have actually weaned Bryce off HOT POCKETS. Aside and apart from that, Bryce is growing up into a very NICE young man. He is also in my opinion quite handsome.I am very grateful for his kind, guileless spirit. He seems to be having a pretty good start to a fun Senior year.
I received my Scentsy kit and am excited to add this to the shop. Nothing better than good smells...well ya there is more to life than that but it's still one fun little thing in life.PomegraneteOrange...mmmm...Pumpkin spice.
Well after that we went up to Pages because Randy shot a Buck and isn't fond of deer meat so he gave us the deer. Man am I grateful for that!Max and Bryce hung that in the shop!(yes...We DO have a place for that Shane...grin) and Bryce helped me carry my Beauty shop chair in the house just in time for my haircut that came.9My chair was at Tracy's shop in Blackfoot and we picked that up when we got the stove insert) Bryce headed out for his game and dance tonight...We did the game...had 2 minutes to throw Bryce some money to eat on and got Max home in time for him to go to work. Yeah on no sleep!! Max loaded the wood stove and headed out.
Oh and Chris's Amanda is going to have surgery on the 3oth of this month. She is having some problems with her jaw. It has some perforations in the bone and she has had that TMJ thing. I am grateful she is going to be my son's wife. She took good care of him when he got the flu. It's a great blessing to me to have a wonderful companion and I am glad they have each other. Shane and Keighty are able to be together right now in Hawaii and will be married soon.We have another grandchild on the way and Brandi is feeling better. Thats been a miracle.Life is Good!

Marsh Valley vs. Bear Lake

Marsh Valley beat Bear Lake 35-12
Bryce was able to play pretty much most of the game and felt pretty good about the game he played.I will have Max give a play by play. He is off to work tonight.
Anyway 2 more to go and we may be in the playoffs. The only game the kids have lost this year was an overtime game in Star Valley.

New Business on the side

I wanted to get some things to add extra in the salon to make things a little more fun. Stephanie Shutes is a little gal who lives in Inkom who was raised in Blackfoot. When Max and I got married, I met her and found out she was the grand-daughter of one of women who came in my salon for years. I always used candles in my salon to hopefully mask the smell that went on into my home. Stephanie brought me oever some cookies and a spray room deoderizer in a pomegranite scent. I bought one of her warmers and tried out a few scents. Actually, I had the boys pick the scents out because I lost my sense of smell before I had my sinus surgery and it's slowly coming back. They give a very cozy home smell with lots of choices to choose from. The best part is there is NO burning wick or smoke residue on the ceiling of our brand new home. They are pretty reasonably priced and have some fun warmers that fit your home. I have the black treasure chest and the Grapevine one. The grapevine is way cuter in REAL life than in the catalog. CHECK OUT MY WEB site.

Just a joke for fun

A little boy opened the big family Bible. He was fascinated as he fingered through the old pages. Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible. He picked up the object and looked at it. What he saw was an old leaf that had been pressed in between the pages.

'Mama, look what I found,' the boy called out.

'What have you got there, dear?'

With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered, 'I think it's Adam's underwear!'
