She graduated from Soda Springs, High School in 1975 ,( Max was a FRESHMAN) graduated from ISU Cosmetology.She worked one year with her mom at Rheas's Fashion Flair in Soda. She married in 1978 and moved to Blackfoot, Idaho where she began working for a salon for 2 years and then established her own salon(Jan's Silver Scissors) and worked for almost 26 years. Max and Jan married in 2006 and and a year later sold her home In Blackfoot and moved everything to Inkom. Max was Born and raised in Inkom and graduated from Marsh Valley High school in 1978. He was majorly involved in Football and their team won district his Senior year. He could have walked on to ISU's team which later took Big Sky Champs but he chose to serve and LDS mission to Tokyo, Japan.He speaks fluent Japanese which is sooo fun to Jan. Its fun to visit with Japanese people.We met on LDS Mingles singles site in May 2004 and dated for 2 years. Max has worked at The Ashgrove Cement plant for 24 years.
We were Married February 18, 2006. In March 2008, we moved into a new home that Max contracted himself. The shed,Cement work, painting, tile work, wood floors, and trim were done by either Max, Jan, Chris, Bryce or Ed.
Jan has one son, Chris who was born in 1985 and will graduate in May from ISU. Chris is engaged to Amanda Wilhelm.They plan to get married on August 29, 2009. Chris has been offered a job at the Ashgrove Durkee plant after he graduates. Max has Tony his oldest son, married to Brandi. They have a daughter, Addi ( 3 in April) The new baby is a boy and the first next generation Shaffer. He arrived of March 27.Tony manages Rosaurs Grocery store in Moscow and \.Kati is one month older than Chris and has a 3 almost 4 year old Jonathon James, Kati works at SEICA. . We are so grateful that he has been protected in many ways. Bryce is 17 and a Senior at Marsh Valley. He played football,is the Senior class president and is in track. Chris and Bryce live with us. Chris is preparing to move to Fruitland in May and Bryce is planning on college soon after graduation. They have been a great blessing to us to have them live with us as a couple.
